ACT NOW! Please be aware that this period of the year, Spring and Summer, are traditionally 'quiet' for those companies providing loft and cavity wall insulation and so now is the best time to make your enquiry - it should be dealt with relatively quickly. Leaving it until the Autumn or Winter, when surveyors and installers alike are getting busy, could mean you missing out on the savings to be made during the colder months.

Pre Budget Report, 09 Dec 09: "From April 2010, people with a home wind turbine or solar panels who plug their excess power into the national grid will receive on average £900 a year," Mr Darling said. "I intend to make this tax free."

Do you qualify for the full gas central heating grant?

Grants have recently risen from £2,700 to £3,500 for Gas Central Heating and from £4,000 to £6,000 for oil fired.

If you own your own home or rent it from a private landlord, you may be eligible for a grant of up to £3,500 (or £6,000 if oil central heating is involved) under the Warm Front Scheme. Warm Front Grants are available in England only; other schemes operate in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland but cannot be applied for here.

Please note, grants cannot be offered after you have central heating installed or if you do the work yourself. The installation MUST be carried out by an accredited installer, who will offer the grant at the time. If you apply here, an accredited installer will get in touch as soon as possible.

Has your property ALREADY received a grant for gas central heating?

If the property has previously received Warm Front improvements, the grant available will be the balance of £3,500 (or £6,000 if oil central heating is involved) less the value of all works previously completed.
